Artplay Book making project 1
Ailsa Wild (writer) and Chaco Kato (artist) conducted this year’s Picture Book Program with vulnerable families with children aged 1-3 years who recently arrived in Melbourne. Artplay, the City of Melbourne.
background: Over the past five years, City of Melbourne's ArtPlay and Family Services have worked with over 220 Melbourne families to write, illustrate and publish 13 unique picture books. This Children's Week exhibition celebrates all the children and parents who have been a part of this very special program.
The activities are inspired by this year's books Are You Strong? and Are You Brave?, created with author Ailsa Wild and artist Chaco Kato. The books focus on the idea that when children are supported to express themselves, they grow in confidence to be brave, speak up and stay safe. (2018-06)
