about SLOW ART COLLECTIVE

Besides her solo practice, Chaco Kato has also been actively creating public art and participatory projects through "Slow Art Collective," an artistic initiative she co-founded with artist Dylan Martorell in 2009.

The collective focuses on environmental sustainability, creative collaboration, and community engagement. Their practice transforms public and community spaces into places where people can share a slower pace of time together. Utilising everyday and recycled materials—such as bamboo, off-cut fabric yarns, secondhand textiles, and musical instruments—Slow Art Collective creates immersive, large-scale installations.

These public art projects invite the audience to become co-creators, exploring the possibilities of creative exchange and social connection.
